Windows reads the wrong drive when selecting a floppy drive due to CMOS settings

Cause:

The computer's CMOS settings do not indicate that a floppy disk drive is installed. This causes Windows 95 to incorrectly display the disk information.

Solution:

Refer to the computer documentation or contact the hardware manufacturer about how to access and update CMOS settings. As a temporary workaround, shut down and reboot to safe mode.

Shut down and restart Windows in safe mode as a workaround:
NOTE 1: When the computer is started in Safe Mode, only the drivers essential to the operating system are loaded. You will not be able to access any non-essential devices, such as CD-ROM drives, sound cards, or modems.
NOTE 2: Refer to the computer documentation or contact the hardware manufacturer about how to access and update CMOS settings.
